betaboy100
Hi looking at the s3 cylinder head for my 19 gasser as iv been advised to look into but im just wondering what exactly does it do and what impact it would have on the perfomance of the bike. Thank you

tony27
Depends on which insert you fit, lower compression should tame it down a bit, higher more snappy

miner
Not used one on the Gasser but got on my KTM 300 EXC... as above... different inserts for different compression ratios. Stock trials (my 07 250 TXT Pro) head looks like a higher CR than my KTM (15 300 EXC). More compression more punch up to a point, I. Tried the high-high insert in my KTM and it was too much, would cough stall like a 4T at low revs... ok for MX and just misbehaving but not general enduro cross country stuff. General anecdotal evidence.
collyolly
I would be surprised if the enduro bike was not running a higher spec of tune than a trials bike, some of the compression ratio also comes from the piston design and the bore and stroke. It's not just about changing the insert, by doing that you may have gone massive on the compression ratio !
