riffraffretro
Just wondering how busy the rad fan is meant to be - pretty much, as soon as I hit any technical bits (2nd gear), the fan cuts-in (and out), on a pretty regular basis. Is this normal for the Honda 4T unit... compared to my usual 2T rides, which hardly ever necessitated the fan to intervene, this does seem excessive. The bike is new, fluids at correct levels and nothing obviously amiss. I'm considering filling with waterless coolant, but again, what is best? Anyone able to shed some light? Thanks in advance. johnnyboxer
They all seem to do it, run with the fan most of the time, even riding between sections with max air flow Don't worry, only worry if she boils?
riffraffretro
Thanks Johnny... this 4T malarky is new to me; just wanted to be sure there was nothing wrong. No, she doesn't boil, but man, that fan's earning its keep, the hard way.

Mine comes on after around 5 minutes of it just been on tick over no riding the fan does cut in and out on a regular basis every couple of minutes the stats are set rather close but it regulates fine I use Honda type 2 coolant works all good ? riffraffretro
Thanks Pearson... I might try that coolant myself. I guess I'll have to get used to the fact that the fan likes to keep itself busy. Cheers for the advice, guys.

As above the fan comes on more on both my 4RT and my 300RR than a standard 2T like my wife's Gas Gas, however I have found that "engine ice" coolant is another option to keep the fan on less. When I switched to that on my 4RT before I got my 300 I found it made a big difference on how often it comes on. I did the same on my 300 and it has improved it as well. Though I am not sure if engine ice is available in the UK but worth consideration. Just another option.
