YamaDude
Hello Gents, I have a '74 TY250 in good running condition. I am in the process of going to pre-mix with it, and therefore removing the autolube pump. I pulled the pump today, and the pump drive shaft came out with it (see attached picture). So, it seems that all I need to do now is attach a block-off plate (I've studied this procedure, and I will be fabricating one) on the case, am I correct? Or do I necessarily need to pull off the engine side case and remove other bits, such as a gear, which was suggested in a previous posting. Not sure what gear that would be, although that member (Tony 76) had a '76 TY250, which appears to be configured differently. Thanks in advance ! still trying
I'm pretty sure that you only have to cover the case hole, but it would be wise to check. The drive end of the oil pump is a couple of flats, which suggests that the drive side is retained and self contained. It would not be good engineering practice to expect the shaft flat shoulders to keep the gear on the shaft. I'm sure you have it covered(excuse the pun), but you haven't mentioned it, don't forget to block the carb access hole.
tony27
From what I see in your photo the drive fits into the end of the crankshaft unlike my C model which means no extra parts inside the clutch cover, get the blanking plate kit from B&J Racing or TY Trials & block the other end of the oil line which should be into the side of the intake port on the A model - a short 6mm bolt & fibre washer will do that Run a good oil at 40-50:1 & you should be fine with no other changes needed. http://www.bjracing.com/id115.html https://www.tytrials.co.uk/trailandtrialsuk/prod_179120-Oil-Pump-Hole-Cover-Kit-TY250-Twinshock.html Edited June 25, 2019 by tony27 Links added

Your engine is configured differently. I've already blocked the intake manifold hole nicely, too. I appreciate the assistance ! Dude
tony27
I did quite a bit of work with JB Weld to fill in all external signs of the oil pump system on the clutch cover which is why it looks different, needing to repaint the magnesium covers on the C model made it easy to hide. I haven't looked at the part numbers for the oil pumps but I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same with only the drive in the cover being different, the gasket for the pump is same so any of the kits should fit
feetupfun
A stainless steel automotive welsh plug is another easy way to plug the hole
