andy_290
Hi All, In a bit of a quandry at the minute, I've got a 2002 270 which has so far cost me an arm and a leg in parts, mainly due to the electrical problems on older beta's. So I'm looking to buy a newer model. Do you think it's best to buy new or buy one that's a year old or so and let someone else take the depreciation/vat hit? RPM are doing 0% finance on 2006 REV-3's at the minute and I'm seriously tempted. And if anyone's interested in a 2002 270 with new electrics give me a shout
scorpa3
Every year they say thet've cured the electric problems. It spoilt the 'Beta' experience for me last year.... same thing twice!

ron
unfortunately lad , 95% of the electrics problems are customer related...washing and not drying out the mag area, or riding in alot of water and not cleaning and drying out the electrics. 5 % are Manufacturer of the electrics mistakes.. not winding properly , or sealing of windings properly.. so you can hardly blame Beta for a part they did not make.. They however did buy them I suppose.. from the same company some other manufacturers do as well.. I will say Beta stands behind any newer failures due to a possible manufacturing defect.. but If your bike is more than a year old well you probably contributed to it i.e. washing / not drying out the electrics , etc.. Many people have stated here that they blow out the mag side with air then spray with good ole wd-40.. we do the same since 2000 no failures in this case on my Team Bikes.. Best of Luck .. Back on track with your thread.. the 06 Has been sorted , and so far the bike works awsome so your choice , 05's were brilliant to.. reliable and solid.. so best of luck in your choice .. i am sure JLI will take care of you well also.. ham2
In my case it was a money thing... i could get a bike that didn't feel that much different to a 2006 but for
andy_290
OK Thanks lads, swinging towards buying a 2005 250 now rather than brand new, I really think I'll be too worried about smashing up a brand new one hehe
