Should there be another class in Trial GP?

Thoughts on a route between the trial 2 and trial GP class?

Is the step too big for the trial 2 riders to step up to the trial GP class.

upon looking at the results last year a few trials on trial 2 were won on less that 20, should there be a route between the classes to bring on the better half of trial 2 and make the step upto trial GP smaller.

Yes totally agree the Trial2 is a little over crowded and a 50/50 style route should be there for the top 5% of T2 and lowest 5% of trialgp

Since there are only 10 or so regular GP riders how is your 5% going to work ?

The whole sport needs an overhaul, let's face it it bears no relationship to our domestic weekend riding (U.K.) .

We were only discussing how things have changed at the weekend, when we were young there were world rounds in cold wet countries and most seemed to be in the winter months, we now have a sport geared to big grippy rocks ridden in blazing sunshine it's no wonder the Spanish rule.

Also what happened to the indoor series if you look at the rider list it's more like a Spanish indoor world championship.

Right now they need to put the third loop back in. As a spectator you do not have enough time to watch enough sections, and the riders are not riding enough sections to get real points.

They will be. Next season will be 3 loops of 10 sections.

Without proper regulation, any sport becomes a runaway train, with less and less teams and riders able to compete at the top level. Many sports, including F1 have introduced numerous restrictions over the years to hold it back and make it possible for the small teams to compete and its still a 1 horse race! Trials has had none for the last 50 years, its no wonder its become elitist. Going to 2 classes was admitting defeat, there should have been a stand taken then to curtail the advancement and keep as many riders in the top grade as possible. 3 grades will only take GP even further away from the semi professional or good amateur.

All GP is good for at the moment is the top 5 and the odd spectator. It does nothing for the advancement of the sport and the aspiring amateur rider. When national champions cant compete at the top level there is something fundamentally wrong

Why do people think a extra course or class is the holy grail in fixing trials problems.

I’m not saying it is the solution. I’ve just noticed that the step from trial 2 to Trial GP is massive. What can we do to bring spectators to the trials and also bring on more young riders. Not just a couple.

Maybe if there was a stepping stone to the trial GP class we would have more riders in several years down the line?
This won’t solve the problem over night but could it bring more riders on?
