monteeman Posted January 10, 2020 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2020 I was out in the garage earlier, cleaning up and came across a box of trials bits, including chain, spark plugs, levers, 10t gearbox and a 40 and 41 rear sprockets,, cpouple of inner tubes, some grips, chain blocks oil filters, a clutch master cylinder, some anodised ****, and a load of mitani silver cabon I kept when I sold my last 4rt. I even had some old fantic 240 stuff in there lol .its been a while.... I remember it cost a fair bit, back. I suppose at least the filters, spokes and sprockets etc will fit the newer one, which is a bonus.... monteeman Posted January 11, 2020 Author Report Share Posted January 11, 2020 I don't think it will fit. the tank cover deffo wont, the tanks a different shape for a kick off, and the silencer cover also looks different. airbox cover might I suppose, but the mitani stuff, it looks like its unobtainium these days. pity, because its really well made, unlike the cheapo stuff. I gave away my mitani titanium front pipe when I sold my last 4rt, bit gutted about that but you never know what the future holds, I thought I was done with trials. but theres life in the old dog yet.... I will keep you updated, I might hold out a month or two, and just go for a new one. ive got a few road bikes/projects that I will never get round to doing, so I think im gonna sell a couple, and put the money towards a new one... 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The first-year (2016) 300RRs had a 2-ring piston. They went back to 3-ring piston in 2017. All 4RTs from 2005 to 2020 except the 2016 300RR have used a 3-ring piston. Do we know if the later 2018 300rr 3 ring piston can be retro fitted to an earlier 300rr, to solve the oil use issue, just out of interest? Along with the piston / ring set changing in 2017, the cylinder and left center case also changed. I don't know exactly why each changed. But I'd want to find out what was changed in the cylinder before using a 2017 piston / ring set in a 2016 cylinder. It could be related to side cutouts on the bottom of cylinder, and the oil ring being lower on the 3-ring piston. And if the new cylinder is needed for the new piston, is the new left center case needed for the new cylinder?
