how61
Hi, these super little bike`s are famous for their lack of spark, they had problems with the original stators in the earlier bikes but by upgrading it to the 05` ignition system it was supposed to rectify the problem. They use to run really well for a few hours and then stop, with no sign`s of life for the rest of the day, Gas Gas UK who are incredibly helpful (ask for Kev) say that the stator break`s down when they get hot, give them a ring and just check that the 05 stator has not been already fitted. You should be able to check if you look at the exit point of the wire through the casing, the standard fitment leaves at roughly a 7 o`clock position, the 05 version leaves at roughly 9. The new stator is around a hundred quid that`s the down side to , so make sure you check first, hope this is of some help, regards Howard

how61
Morning, yes the crank should have 2 slots cut for the `key`. because the new stator fits in a different rotational position the fly wheel key will want moving to the other slot to allow it to spark at the right time, hope it helps, regards Howard
