Jamesm2911
Hi all, My bike is a 1994 Beta Techno 250, my first ever motorbike! I tried to start it a few months ago and it was making a crunch noise when i kicked it hard enough, the engine was turning over but refused to start and skidded when I tried to bump it. Upon further investigation i found a large crack near the kickstart in the case, so i bought new cases and swapped everything over all going well. Until a nut on the cylinder barrel started to spin, not tightening nor loosening, the bike has a fair bit of compression and could start (I think, but I'm far from a mechanic), after feeling for compression and to make sure everything felt right before kicking it properly, the piston now sounds like it is scraping, not on ever stroke just now and then but is definitely repeating and making a scraping noise. If I'm honest, I'm scared to kick it! I was loving every moment on the bike and wanted to ride it as much as possible, so this is becoming even more annoying with every day that passes! Thanks, James
totty79
Take the spark plug out so you can turn it over by hand and see if you can then see or feel anything specific.

That’s my plan for today, I’ll let you know how I get on.
2stroke4stroke
Bump starting a trials bike - you'll need to use fourth, if not fifth, gear.

2stroke4stroke
You already have found out, I think. If you don't use a high gear then the wheel will just lock up. Edited February 21, 2020 by 2stroke4stroke
