Shelbyk7
Anyone have experience with these? Are they reliable ? this would be my first trials bike is it a good idea or not?
carlos
Totally depends on the condition of the bike and the price, parts are still readily available, (at least in Canada), good bike to start with IF in good condition. My buddy had one and put 100s of hours on it, that's why i got one in 99. But generally the newer the better. You could spend a lot of money and time replacing wheel, swingarm bearings, pivot bearings, fork seals, headset bearings, sprockets, chain, rebuilding brake cylinders.... micm
OK it's a mono shock, fluid cooled and disc braked so it's an 'early modern' from a good manufacturer, so that's all a plus. But due to the age of the bike spares could be a problem. The general advice to the first time buyer is, a clean bike in decent condition, and as modern as possible. There are at least two more modern Betas trials bikes ranges, the Rev 3 and Evo respectively.
huski
Wouldn't go for a bike that old, generally they're worn out and beyond economic rebuild even if free. All down to the maintenance it's had,if everything still works like it should and it's cheap it would get you started
