Hi

did a search but cld not find a specific topic about:

which two-stroke oil is best in a low revving 18 hp trials engine.

We use synthetics a lot which were made for mx racing engine 12.000 and 40 hp, so what made use believe we have to use them also.

Lately it got me thinking why a mineral oil for low temp/low stress situation wld not do the job equally good or maybe even better than the full syns.

What do you think about bio-degradable oils for outboards?

My cilinderhead fouls up with carbon after only 15/20 hours so i feel i am using the wrong oil.

At the moment full synthetic castrol TTS, which works in my mx bike perfect.

Any opinions? Pls let me know.

At the moment full synthetic castrol TTS, which works in my mx bike perfect.

Used Castrol TTS for years ever since the 80's in Fantic's all the way through to my last Beta Rev-3. In my opinion it is a top class oil, keeps cylinder, barrel and rings clean and no gooie! exhaust.Runs sweet as a nut all through the rev range.

Tends to be more expensive than other 2 stroke oil, so maybe people avoid it and go for a cheaper version.

All of the known brands are good and people will tell you one is better than the other, I am answerering your question about TTS.

Got a 4RT now so don't have the 2 stroke oil problem <_<:D

Nice digs gasgas! Looks like fun.

As for the oil thing, I've personally found full synthetics to burn a little cleaner than dino oils. I agree that most are overkill for our applications though, as almost all top oils are designed specifically for high reving, high output motors, like MX and Roadracing powerplants. That said, I've tried lots of different oils in the past and keep coming back to Motul...it just seems to work. Clean, good protection...what more can I ask for?

Are you sure those deposits on your head is from oil and not fuel? I know the pump sludge they sell over here runs very dirty, leaving lots of deposits.

Joe, thanks.

It is indeed fun overthere.

About the fuel: don't question our fuel B) as we have the most expensive and best there is directly from the gasstations :D . We can choose for normall-95ron, super-98ron or diesel :D

I am positive that we are talking unburned oils here.

But I'll monitor the engine the next few rides to see if there is a change with different riding styles.

With my mx bike i also see no carbon build up even after a year so the synthetics do their work oke in that engine.

cheers

I'm using some motul 2t given to me at the moment however compared to my usual castrol it just doesn't have the same sort of consistancy before or after mixing

and appears visually to be a very weak mixture!!!!! I've used 4 tanks worth so far with no ill effects, so it must be OK (touch wood!!!!)

Just a little of the subject!

What type of soil is your trials area made of GasGas?, obviously not loose sand or it would be a flat practice area very quickly.

Do you get any complaints off the neighbours in those houses close by?

Did the local council (govenment help fund it)?
