riffraffretro
Can anyone advise the best gearbox oil/fluid for the RL250 Beamish? I've seen modern 80W transmission oil recommended, as well as ATF. If ATF, what specification, Dexron 3, or something more advanced? Thanks in advance. teamferret
I wouldn't use ATF as your clutch will probably already have a tendancy for the plates to stick together when left for more the a couple of weeks and using this oil willmake this worse. I would go for a light gear oil
suzuki250
I use Silkolene / Putoline Light Gear Oil (75w) they all seem to work the same. If you buy Putoline in 4L cans you can get it for £38 posted! It doesn't matter what you use the plates always seem to stick when its cold! Rhoda_Sodapop
I always used what the Beamish recommended 20/50W mulitgrade, it is cheap to buy so you can change it regularly. ATF is way to thin, your gearbox won't like it or be lubricated properly!
riffraffretro
Thanks for the pointers, guys. I've gone with Comma Classic 20w50 as that's what the manufacturer recommends and others have used with success. As stated, at under £20 for 5l, it's cheap enough to change regularly.
