gaby
Northernnorm, Just trying to make a connection... I met a gent by the name of Wolfgang at an RV show in Louisville a couple months ago. We got to talking about trials and he said he's a friend of yours. I can't remember his last name, but I figured with a first name like Wolfgang, it would not matter! Do I have the right guy?????
northernnorm
Yeah Hi I know the guy he is a woods bike enthusiast and has spent several long days spectating our man made outdoor stadium events. I don't recall his last name either but he did drag his young boy (maybe 8 yr old?) w/him and they showed high interest but are not regularly in contact or buying bikes yet. We do what we can here to try to get converts from MX and Enduro backgrounds to at least check out this sport. In this area land to ride on is a battle and trials at least is quiet and doesnt need large areas to practice. Our club largely rides on property owned by dairy farmers that happed to be members or related some how to a rider, one of the best riding spots was put into a Govt. conservancy and another is all big buck housing development .Do you ride and w/ what club? gaby
I have been riding trials off and on for the last 3 years. When I can make time I ride in the M.O.T.A. (Michigan Ontario Trials Association)events at the Intermediate level. I live on about 20 acres of hilly woodland, so most of my riding is at home. In fact, I don't think I made it to even one sanctioned event last year! I intend to ride in more events this season, and would like to try out some other clubs as well. After the birth of our 3rd son about 7 months ago, my wife and I decided to call our family "complete". So diaper duty won't be as much of a factor from here on! My oldest is 7 years. He is getting started on a TY80. As soon as he is ready to take part in events I'll have a green light (from the wife) to attend all the events I, er... my son wants. Wolfgang seemed pretty interested in trials. He did mention that he's not ready to buy a new machine, but he told me he is seriously considering a used one. He mentioned that he felt the most comfortable on an older Gas Gas that someone let him ride (maybe even at your place?). We also discussed Sherco (I ride an '01 290)and he had a good impression of those as well. I think he could get hooked with a solid used machine and some time on the pegs...
