EREM
I am the owner of a 1959 tiger cub. I wonder if it is a good idea to fit an oil seal in the guide valves to avoid some oil in the chamber combustion...?. There exist some from Norton with similar interior size. It only needs to mechanize the guide. Does anyone have any idea or sugestions about it? Thanks in advance
naichuff
The cub I own has done three years running with no seals fitted with out problems A little oil down the valve guide can stop wear or seizure of the valve
EREM
Yes, that was my concern. Iron valves and bronze guides perhaps need this extra amount of oil...
brucey
I have built and ride several Cubs. I do not use oil seals in any. My advice would be to fit new valves and Phos Bronze Guides if you are concerned about smoking. A good friend (who is no longer with us) did fit some old Ford Valve Seals to one of his Cubs which reduced the smoking effects caused by worn guides but not a cure! Hope this helps.
