sam
I'm trying not to panic, but I can not get my Hontesa to start and I'm leaving for Motorama in the morning! I pulled the carb and cleaned it last night, there was dirt visable in the intake side! I simply ran some fine wire thru the jets but did not remove them, used some carb cleaner also. I went home at lunch today and poured a little amount of fuel in the cylinder and she fired up for a moment! The symptoms that lead to this: After 7 hours of riding this week she started not to idle then pinging, or a slight knock as she tryed to idle, diesaling affect. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated! sam
trialsurfer
It sounds like a plugged Pilot jet!
brian r
Probably need to pull the carb and clean it properly. Blow compressed air through the jets. Look though them to make sure they're clear. Blow some carb cleaner through them. Sounds like you just have a piece of trash in there. hillary
Check also there's no gunge BENEATH the float needle - I had a brand new one that would not run and it was a bit of swarf under the float needle, blew that out and it was perfect for ever after. sam
You guys will laugh at this one! I was frantic to get this bike running and yes the first problem was a dirty carb, but then I kept putting one of the floats in upside down! You must understand hoosier hillbillys!
