domb
Hi all, I've just picked up my Sherco ST 300 factory yesterday put it away without having a proper look over it, got it out this morning fired it up and let it sit for a while to warm up, I noticed after a short while that the residue off the combustion was coming out of the welds on the header, surely this should be covered under some kind of warranty? The quality of the welds are pretty shocking as seen in the included photos. Thanks in advance guys & gals! magnapoxy
Show the photos to whom you bought the bike from. Perhaps take the bike to whom you bought it from. They can see for them selfs what cobbed up welds look like. Too hot in one place, too cold it another, welded too fast in one area, too slow in another. nasty looking. 1

happycyd
What kind of quality control does that suggest about the rest of the build ?
trapezeartist
Looks like they let the apprentice weld that one. ☹️
magnapoxy
Last year riding buddy of mine bought a 2021 Beta 200 rr. waited long time to get it. He filled up the gas tank, went to the house to put his gear on. Came back to garage chomping at the bit for his 1st ride, There was gasoline all over the floor. Lucky the wood stove was out and cold. The beta factory used much too long bolts to anchor the radiator shrouds, They poked holes in the gas tank !! This was at the peak of the covid mess in Italy. I do wonder if Beta was hiring anyone they could find to assemble------- just a uneducated guess on my part.
baldilocks
The petrol tank on a beta is the top tube of the frame. How hard have you got to try to drive a 6mm bolt through an aluminium frame ? Sounds more like its been drilled
domb
Thanks all for your input, Ive spoke to the dealer who is sending me a new header out in the post, I spent the time yesterday stripping the bike down and checking everything over, gave everything a check with a torque wrench, greased everything up because from factory, it’s as if they’ve forgot what grease is. I’ll be keeping hold of my 2016 factory for a little while longer, just incase anything else goes wrong. I’m assuming covid has had a lot to play in the quality drop but who knows. I thought this was a thing across most manufacturers? Didn’t Danny Butler make a comment about it on one or more of his recent TrialTube videos? Good news about the new header. Hopefully everything goes back together properly!

magnapoxy
Actually, A beta 200 RR is really 190cc. A KTM 150 is really 143.9 cc same as the husky. its just a selling point i suppose. agan, the beta 200 rr i am talking about is a enduro type bike. not a trials bike. I am happy Mr Domb has had great results with his seller.

pauls320
Its really shocking that such an obvious flaw can get pushed out of the factory and then get past a dealer final assembly and PDI ....Sad
domb
Header has arrived quality is better than the previous one, I've included some photos, may finally be able to get out on it this weekend... that's if this British weather will allow it Thanks for all the input very much appreciated!
Nishijin
Good luck with the new pipe. If you keep the original, maybe a local tig welder can clean it up and you have a spare for the inevitable dents? All the same, I feel inclined to say my ‘16 ST300 has much nicer welds than even that replacement. Shame to see the standards drop, especially in such a small market like trials.
