james111089
Are ignition coils interchangeable i am just wondering because i have seen several coils for sale that say 'fit all 2 stroke singles with cdi ignition' Reason being i have just got hold of an rd125lc coil to put on the yamaha it 175 im building it runs fine with it on but i dont want it to cause any damage if i continue to run it. Thanks James
axulsuv
If memory serves... A cdi coil is a cdi coil is a cdi coil... But some put out alot more voltage than the others, so check your plug often till you're comfortable with the way it runs. You may have to change the heat range of the plug. But another yammer coil from the same vintage should be fine !! good luck, Glenn If the plug is whiteish with a porclien like finish on the center electrode:::: it's way to hot... kevin j
The engine flame heats up the plug, not the amount of spark. More spark can erode the electrodes rapidly, but should not affect the heat range. If the porcelan is white, its way hot, but from leanmix or too much timing. kcj
