ironfairy3
1970 sherpa model 49, I have problem starting my bully, it seems it's not drawing fuel into the engine, I have stripped the carb [Amal ] down and cleaned it in the ultrasound machine four times paying particular attension to the pilot jet ect and blown it through with the airline, still no luck, i renewed the crank oilseals it has Electric world ignition and has a big fat blue spark. I have been riding over sixtie years but i am new to two strokes. any help would be welcome, thank you.
feetupfun
If it's the AMAL with a tickler, the usual reason people have trouble with cold starts is that they don't tickle them for long enough. Leaning the bike away from the side with the tickler also helps to get more fuel in. The pilot jet is important for hot starts.
motovita
I remember sometimes putting my thumb over the overflow hole on the side of the tickler to raise the fuel level even higher in the carb, don't recall which bike(s) I used that trick on.

pschrauber
I had a Puch with a Bing carb fitted with a tickler. You should press the tickler down until the gas runs out fron the hole for the tickler rod, that ensures that the engine has got enough gas to start in my experience.
