Dreaming About A Job In Trials

Trust me...turning a hobby into a career, aint all its cracked up to be...and firstly it'll probably end up feeling just like any other job...

secondly...(maybe more importantly)..if its a job that everyone thinks will be cushy/fun, it'll probably be very hard to get, and probably not very well paid!

point 2 is certainly the case in my field...with usually about 300 plus people applying for one position...all for a job that dont pay much either.

Stick to computers I would guys!!!!!!

Oh..sorry..this thread is getting a bit hijacked eh!..Richard..the bad news is..I too dont reckon you could make any money on a trials practice place..I think everyone would be too tight to pay, plus, Uk is too big a place..(ie to far to travel for some, wherever you put it)..sorry mate..just my humble opinion ;)

Thanks guys (n gals?).

I really appreciate all the opinions/comments.

You've kinda confirmed what I thought, but didn't want to accept.

Bad idea trying to make living out of a hobby.

It sounds so good, if it was possible everyone would be doing it.

Those that are already doing it are stuggling to make ends meet.

Spose I'll just have to keep dreaming 'n scheming.

I've been thinking about running my own pub/club for ages. Might be like a kiddy in a sweetshop though. Or, God forbid, it puts me off drink  ;)

One of the most anti social jobs going, when you want time off where does everyone else want to be? That's right, in your pub. End of Trials career without question.

Know what you mean. I've spent ages thinking "I can't do this forever". Waiting for something else to come along. CCNP, CCDP, Voice Specialist, Firewall Specialist, now studying for CCIE lab, but heart's not really in it, which will probably be my downfall.

forget the pubs if your married, guy at work lost his wife to a punter and he nearly sort advice from AA.

I lost my keys once when I was younger and the AA were very helpful, but not sure I'd call them out if I lost my wife

:P

But yeah, perhaps the pub/club is a bad idea. Would need a lot of thinking about.
