Rear hub brake refurb - help

Hi, my rear hub brake needs relining, the new pads do not engage with the hub enough to work.

Can anyone recommend someone that can remove and replace the existing liner.  Its a Bultaco Sherpa T, 1966 ish.

Local to Oxfordshire / South of the UK would be a bonus, but Im happy to travel to get working rear brake.

Unless your hub is seriously worn and out of true, a better and cheaper option would be to have your old shoes fitted with modern linings which are oversize and then have them machined down to fit the hub. That way you get almost full contact of shoe to hub.  Off the shelf shoes rarely give much of a contact patch as the lining is thin and only a small section of the shoe contacts the hub when the cam opens them. Modern linings also have more friction for better braking.

Woody is correct - this is the normal way to get round the problem.  Of course it means eventually the whole hub is worn out.  It is possible to machine out the old liner and fit a new one but I would guess it is cheaper to get a new wheel (assuming you can find one of course).  These sorts of engineering tasks are getting harder to find as the generation of repairers retires and modern machines are "fit a new one".

Worth checking the drum face for ovality and distortion before you shell out too much.  Good luck.
