beartooth
Are these not a thing? I cant find a single one anywhere online. I also can't find any threads talking about why they would be a bad idea.
lineaway
Well, most trials bikes have no frame under the motor. They tried fiber glass/ plastic on Ossa and Yamaha. I could ruin one of those on a regular weekend without even trying.
rotors7
Fairly sure my Montesa 330 came out of the box with a plastic shield, was ripped to shreds in quick time so I made my own wrap around alloy one.
b40rt
I rode the pre65 a few days ago with a plastic sump guard, no issues. The bike has minimal frame under the engine . Kinlochleven has one of two rocks .....
jonnyc21
Classic or modern bike? Most modern trials bikes don't have frame support under the engine so I wouldn't think they would work well for them. However a lot of classic trials bikes do and I could see that working for them, however as I ride modern bikes I wouldn't know if anyone makes them for classic bikes. Good luck. turbofurball
Acerbis make a universal plastic bash plate, I have one on my Rieju Tango (which has a cradle frame) and it works well ... having looked at it it could be made to fit most classic trials bikes (you'd just have to trim off the excess on the sides). The stock TY175 bash plate is 1mm steel IIRC, so I can imagine a plastic one would work equally well. On a modern bike you could add a sheet of PTFE to slide over stuff if that suited your riding style, but I think most people try to avoid that! (meanwhile I get stuck and have to rock myself off, lol)
trapezeartist
My Fantic 200 had a plastic bash plate so I assume most/all twinshock Fantics would have similar. It worked for me.
