Dave63
Hi , I have not long acquired a montesa 248 it was rough so have stripped it down and am rebuilding it . So my question is, I have stripped the forks to replace seals and can't find out what oil goes back in , the book says Hidrol 7 ? Tried Google and no direct comparison so please any help would be very grateful.

Hidrol was/is a brand of fork oil and the 7 means 7 WT

lemur
What model forks? You have options, Jitsie sells aluminum stanchions for my bikes and they are highly recommended. The chrome won't be chrome unless it is over a copper layer that is over a layer of zinc or nickel, if you put chrome directly onto steel the steel becomes a sacrificial metal. Single layer of electroplate on steel will be mostly zinc. Edited July 4, 2023 by lemur
