dman
I always had this question ever since the newer rev3's came out even though I ride GG. With the rear shock being off center on the swingarm does that result in different handling(like weight towards one side) and/or does it stress the swingarm the wrong way? bob
No so long as the bearings and bushes are in good condition as far as i can tell. But i was quite surprised how nice the back en feels without anf fancy stuff. Bob
outlaw dave
No there isn't any bad side effect as everything has been engineered for a perfect balance - this is not a new idea and it has been used successfully by BMW and other manufacturers. - The trick is getting the correct shock at the back. Beta have seemingly found the ultimate in their 2006 model, after carefully refining the Rev 3 for the past few years.
dman
How is it perfect balance when the shock is off center? Unless you beta guys got some mass displaceing shock of some sort?
andy_290
I should imagine other components offset the weight

bob
yeah, don't forget the flywheel and exhaust are on the other side, no bike is symmetrical across the line straightdown the middle of the bike. Bob

nsaqam
KTM's have used an offset shock since they ditched the linkage.
