Take a look at the bike count at this years Scottish for your answer of which bike to ride. Myself if all I rode was wet, it would be a 2 stroke Beta 250. The 4 stroke works well too.

 Beta 87

 Gas Gas 2nd with 47

Vertigo 47

Montesa 30

Scorpa 27

TRRS 26

Sherco 24

P.S. I really love my Montesa. But we ride big dry rocks most of the time. If  I ever change brands again it would be a Beta.

How many are rentals?

People usually rent the brand they ride. LOL

Amazing the come back KTM has had with TXT range. The new 2025 models look awesome. And they don't plow.

Long term owner of a 2017 Beta 4T standard model. Lots and lots of hours on it and the engine is not far off new in terms of performance. I will say that they do take a while to run in (stalls more easily when new than when run in) and the carb arrangement is poor with the rubber boots being both poor quality and tricky to correctly install. Outside of those issues everything else is the same as a 2 stroke beta.

The beta 4Ts (standard or factory) are also supplied with a better clutch than the standard beta 2 strokes.

I always run penrite 10-60 oil and nothing else matches the clutch performance I get with that oil.

I have had to do zero carb maintenance on the bike and I have owned it from new. Have ridden in deep water, rain etc. It's as good as a carb gets in terms of reliability.

With any of the 4 stroke bikes I'd recommend a better bash plate such as the costa special parts offer.

If you are a big fella the standard beta suspension may be too soft and I'd go with the factory model. It's perfect for me usually in the 75 to 80kg range (~170lbs).

Cheers

Owens
