Looking for an OSSA ECU

Hey mods, can delete if not allowed.

As Lotus54 knows, I recently cooked my Explorer ECU through pin 3. No damage to the harness, the plug is cooked, but that can be replaced. So I'm wondering, as I hunt around for options, if anyone, anywhere, has a known working ECU (or 2) they are willing to sell. It is the 520030211 unit, but I'll take whatever ya got at this point.

My only other option(s) at this point is to sell the bike for parts (not what I'd like), or to install a standalone ECU, which, if I can't find a factory unit, is the route I'll likely go down.

Post in the thread or send me a message on here if ya have anything!

Cheers!

That is a worthwhile endeavor!  Are you thinking of something like a Microsquirt?  As far as I know, the entire Megasquirt product line only provides a conventional (inductive) ignition, which is not ideal for a 2-stroke.  But certainly better than nothing.  I imagine you could have a separate CDI triggered by the Microsquirt, but that would mean having another box.  Although on an Explorer, at least there may be room for it under the seat.

Microsquirt, but yep. It seems like some folks have sorted this out, I've found a few installs out there on some RZ/RD Yamahas, and some people asking questions about installs on snow machines and PWCs, so, it's out there, but tough to say. At this point, I don't have much to lose!

Your site, Konrad, will be invaluable for piecing the whole thing together, to have the values for the sensors already is a huge leg up!

There should be plenty of room, the Microsquirt is fairly small, and watertight, so there will be room under the seat for sure.

While I'm thinking of it Konrad, do you happen to know/have the ignition curve?

I am wondering if I can poach the data out of one of the factory maps. Though I haven't looked into it yet...

The short answer is, no.  I'm sure each map has an ignition curve tailored to match the fueling/performance.  It's also likely a 3D curve, as there is TPS data available.

I plan to do more reverse-engineering of the ECU this winter, so maybe can steer you in the right direction after that.
