The TMX report states:

''You can snick it into gear and ride straight from the off. ''

I thought that was the last thing you were supposed to do on a 4RT-- they throw a wobbly if you don't give them a couple of minutes at start up?

I'm not a 4RT owner so I think someone else should clarify this.

Each and every bike is different to every rider, it all boils down to personal choice!

The 4rt is an excellent bike in terms of quality and strength, what the bike needs is riding, too many people have views that the bike is not competitive, it makes very little difference to the type of bike 95% of riders choose, it is the person holding the handlebars that is ultimately responsible!!!

Get yer leg swung over one, and ride the bloody thing!!!!!

I had a fairly good go on a Kary Krahel's new 2006 M4RT (with red anodized rims) and I want one too! Woody is right about just riding the bike. I think for me it would take awhile to trust it on large climbs. It just doesn't sound like it's going to make the "wall of death" and it seems like agony waiting for it to get there. It will take me a long time to get over the trauma I suffered while riding those Damned old 1974 TL's. Just the sound of a four stroke reminds me of riding those lame tiddlers. I still find it amazing every time the M4RT DOESN'T cough on sudden throttle accellerations. :thumbup:

Hello there Ludde, the software disc you have your Repsol will contain a map ending in something like  m10.e2p  thats the mild novice map if you like. It really slows down the pace of things and allows a smoother style of riding. Try it, you may like it!!

I now ride both a 315 and a 4RT ( not simulaneously !!) and can compare both bikes quite easily. I find that the bottom end response is very good on the 4RT and is perfect for firing up short steep banks / rocks / steps. Where I find it lacking is in situations where you need long full-bore flat out hill climbs. It appears to spin up the back wheel too easily when near the red line, but I (try) countering it with moving my weight back but by then I have lost momentum and so have to lay it down. Its slightly different on the 315 because that appears not to spin up the back wheel as easy on a big hill climb, there I can move back a bit and regain some grip. But between the 2, I prefer the 4RT in all other respects.

Did you see Doug riding at Hawkstone last year? There was a section at this event, I think it was number 12 that had a massive hill climb (wasn't used for lap 2)Only Doug, Fuji and Freixa got anywhere near its crest, so the 4rt can level big climbs but what cc engine's are the works bikes.

Yeah - seems surprising that the short blips are where you find it better. That seems to be the area where the big boys have found it lacking. They seem to be able to give it a bit of a snap from a standing start, but seems to be lacking on consecutive hops/blips up steps or banks. Top end power they seem to be thriving on.

I remember Fuji trying to hop on the rear wheel up a steep plane, and it seemed to lose a bit of power on each hop until he eventually stopped.

I thought it might be that one. Was out for riding for the first time for 2,5 months today. It was a little shaky to say the least :thumbup:

is it just me or is the repsol replica in the photos

still the 05 model, i dont think i would be too happy

spending all that extra money for last years bike, or

has the 06 repsol not come out yet.
