Chaz9462
Hi everyone, Recently bought an old TXT some people have helped me identify in another post. I've fully stripped it now and pulled the cases apart. Mega help from someone on youtube who stitched all the Jim Snell videos into one 2 hour information goldmine. The only thing left I'm struggling with is removing the crankshaft. I've pulled the cases and removed everything else. It looks like its a special tool but I can't find mention of it anywhere online. Photo attached but I'm assuming the innter gear is threaded and needs some kind of splined tool to sit in the two inserts on the gear. Is that right? Anyone else done it before and have an idea or link to a tool I could use? Thanks
Tr1AL
@Chaz9462 I personally never had any problem removing the gear off the crank and I have done it many times , normally after removing the clip it just pulls off by hand , it looks like some one has been beating on that one which will probably have made it harder to remove as the edges will have spread , I would heat only the gear with gas/oxy or a heat gun then put a standard gear puller on it after putting something suitable in the hole in the crank. for the puller to push against. DO NOT USE THE CASING AS A LEVERAGE POINT ESPECIALLY NOT ON A MAGNESIUM CASE . IF YOU WARM WITH A GAS TORCH DO NOT LET THE FLAME NEAR THE MAGNESIUM FOR OBVIOUS REASONS . lineaway
You are in trouble. That is all F'd up. Looks like a new crank will be needed.
