Papa
Condition and price being pretty much the same, which is the better choice, a TY250 or a TL250? I guess the choice of two cycle or four cycle is the main thing? I lean a little towards four strokes.
lemur
TL lol you should have made it a poll Edited January 16 by lemur
kurtas
If you want a competitive trials bike the TY. if you want to have a nice trail bike which also goes through trials sections the TL.
b40rt
If you look at the results of both, the TY has countless wins ( in standard form) the TL ........
lineaway
The TL is very, very heavy. It can do the easy line well. And like it`s been said makes a great trail bike.
cleanorbust
It depends on what you want the bike for. Riding sections, trying to get a semi- decent score: TY Struggling to ride/manhandle an extremely heavy lump through the same sections: TL. Your choice. 1
lemur
Correct answer is Papa if you can possibly swing it buy a 4RT, it's a current production model bike and infinitely superior bike to own, ride and maintain.
jon v8 Posted yesterday at 12:46 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:46 PM My opinion is that the Yamaha will always be a better bike in terms of getting results. But its not always about that - And I do own both... I like both for different reasons, the Yamaha for its ability and honesty, Yamaha and Mick Andrews knew exactly what they were doing and the bike in standard form is very good. Honda and SHM also knew what they were doing, but the weight of that engine is always against you. But the soundtrack from the Honda is in a different County ! And its a great feeling to do well with the Honda, the same as my rigid AJS when you clean a section that others on modern bikes sometimes don't. Its all about the rider and their personal choice, I went for both...
Papa
The Honda is no longer available so I'll be buying the Yamaha. I like the fact that it is blue & white, not the more common(?) yellow & white, like the earlier models.
