scorpaian Posted yesterday at 04:04 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:04 PM (edited) Can anyone advise me what plug is needed for a 300RR fitted with S3 low compression head? A moment it has an ngk bp6 stand long reach plug, is this because of the head insert? The correct plug I seem to keep seeing is a small short reach bpmr6a? Any give me correct info? scorpaian Posted yesterday at 07:23 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:23 PM So looking at S3 website, the pics show the neck of insert where I screw in plug a lot shorter than the one I have? Was this a mistake? or just altered and I have an older model insert? So basically, the normal bike should have a small short reach plug, but as my plug head insert is longer it's had to use a normal tall plug?? Only way to use standard short plug is to turn head insert down?
lemur Posted yesterday at 07:53 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:53 PM Local hardware store, it's a chainsaw sparkplug. Cheap and easy to source.
scorpaian Posted yesterday at 07:56 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:56 PM hi, yes I have two small plugs, that's not what I was asking bro! Thanks for reply though.
lemur Posted yesterday at 08:09 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:09 PM If the head needs a longer reach plug that should be easy to measure.
scorpaian Posted yesterday at 08:15 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:15 PM Dude, you've missed the point, forget the plugs at mo, it's the insert I'm asking about, I have two short plugs (seems correct small ones) but the one in it is a long reach, why? is my insert different or incorrectly made? Anyone have an answer, I think Konrad seems to get it, but still not overly clear!
lemur Posted yesterday at 08:28 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:28 PM (edited) Apologies, opened his post to see what you are working with, strange way to do it. I like the stock compression, not even sure why you would want to lower it, best luck with your mod. ... I would have stuck it in my lathe and shortened the collar, looks like it has a ton of thread engagement, but we can't see what you guys can with one in hand. scorpaian
Yes I've seen the splatshop description, it's very confusing but I get it now, basically I need to buy long reach NGK BP6RES plugs!!
arnoux
There is an S3 low plug type that takes the BPMR6A plug (stock plug) and fits the standard TRS head cover. https://www.thehellteam.com/trs-cylinder-head-insert Edited 23 hours ago by arnoux

One is for fitting a short BPMR6A plug as found on RR, R and ONE models, and one that takes the BPR5ES longer plug that is fitted to the GOLD model. S3 colour code their inserts: Yellow / Gold = Low Compression Silver / raw aluminium finish = stock compression Red is always the hi Comp variant.
