Another issue with my GasGas 300 txt 2005 rebuild

Hi everyone,

I bought some swingarm bushings, seals and a new axle bolt but the swingarm bushings are so far off fitting. The seals are tight and the axle bolt is correct and fits the seals and bushings but the bushings dont fit in the swingarm right.

The actual swingarm appears to be 25mm diameter and 48mm depth (each side)

The bushings are 22.5mm in diameter so rattle in the swingarm and only 15mm deep so two of them (as per parts diagrem) dont make up the 48mm (even with the few mm the seals take up).

I thought maybe I had been sent the wrong parts so ordered another set from elsewhere with the exact same problem.

Only other thought was if the swingarm might be from a different year but when you buy the bushing kits it says it fits 04-2021 so can't see how it can be that.

Anyone got any ideas?

This is the raga replica/standard txt hybrid is it not, where you appear to have some bits of each ?

I think the raga should have a magnesium swingarm (painted gold same as engine ) so could they be larger outside & longer for the magnesium swing arm version ?

Just a thought, someone here will know more but worth a check.

But you could just buy stock plain bushes to the dimensions you need as per Konrad suggestion.

There were some changes made in about 2003-4 earlier models had Needle roller bearings fitted and then later models ha Bushes fitted.

This is a parts diagram of an 2003 model

Part number 7 is an HK2020 bearing measuring 20mm internal, 26mm outside and 20mm wide.

Part number 8 is an HK2010 bearing  measuring 20mm internal, 26mm outside and 10mm wide.

As above, I think I remember another post from yourself where you acknowledge your bike doesn't have the original swingarm, so it may not be an 04 onwards swingarm. The pro model came in 02, so you could have the 02-03 swingarm.

but yeah, rather than buy the spindle again just try and source the required bearings

Based one the other posts, I may have to retract my idea that you buy bushing (bushes. sleeves, whatever) from an industrial supplier.  The wall thickness for the ID you are after is typically 1.5mm to  2mm.

Your photo makes it look like you require needle bearings.

What came out when you disassembled it?
