windlestone
Thursday night attended awards presentation for North East Centre ACU and Seaton Delaval Motor Club.Had a chance to rub shoulders with some greats of the past, Matty Bell and George Shorter, i'm expecting a few cleans for that mention :rolleyes:Bryce and Ray Crinson and Billy Maxwell and some greats of the present, Michael Phillipson and Colin Ward. Big well done to the greats of the future watch out for these lads. A Class Champion Lewis Peart B Class Champion Dale Robson C Class Champion John Battensby D Class Champion Billy Bolt Another young lad to watch out for is Joe McMeekin who is coming on a treat and improving each week. As with all award ceremonies there is always people there making up the numbers so hello to Phil Clarke Friday morning bright and early off to the Consett Club Trial at Buttsfield Quarry. Paul Egon and team marked out an excellent course and the easy route was eased a little to accomodate the TY80's and give the youngsters a good ride around the wood. A touching moment before the start saw a minutes silence in honour of Colin Ward Senior.Cleaned and prepped the bikes and my son suggested an hours practice on Saturday afternoon. I must be mad. Sunday off to Bollihope Trial run by the Weardale club. I would guestimate 180 entries from Scotland to Yorkshire and it was a cacking trial with Maureen in the sandwich van selling out! Son's bike lost its rear brake in the middle of lap 2 so he retired. I had a big off in between sections so have a badly bruised shoulder and hip luckily my head took most of the impact Got home and washed bikes son says he isn't riding on Monday and goes out on the drink. 1.30am Sunday morning drunken son wakes me up and says i think I will ride tomorrow if i can fix my brakes what time we leaving? 7am Monday morning make a bacon sandwich then look at mysterious brakes. No pedal, no fluid loss pads are only about two months old i'm sure of this cos the bike is only that old anyway we bleed the brakes. He eventually joined me at 8.15am as soon as we got a satisfactory pedal son says I need the loo and dissappears to leave me to load two bikes and all the gear he then appears just as i'm tightening the last strap We head off to Elsdon for the Bedlington club trial and enjoy another excellent days sport well done Colin Battensby and team. Half way round the third lap I see a young lad about 13 and i notice he has missed a section so I tell him. I've ridden three trials in four days he says and I'm knackered. I told him son wait till your 45 you don't even know what knackered is yet Many thanks to all observers and course markers and entry takers and results people we couldn't enjoy it without you. Now i'm looking forward to work for a rest
