scoobie232
I have an 05 250 pro which has taken a knock at the master cylinder letting out some fluid and in some air, I see the system takes mineral oil instead of standard clutch fluid what type/brand/make of mineral oil should i use and where would i get some locally ?. Thanks.. H.
coxy
you may be able to get some from your local bike shop as some of the bikes have hydraulic brakes which use mineral oil but dunoo if it is any good for a trials bike
coxy
well i got told that if you use any other thing apart from mineral oil then it will corrode and damage any seals whixch it is in contact with for a long time

magicmat
Err....hmmm My 05 280 clutch dragged, checked it, and no fluid in teh reservoir !! so i bled it from the bottom up, with valvoline 5.1 DOT brake and clutch fluid, i had no idea that they use mineral and synthetic stuff, i used the bike for two hours,...and now its sat there, for what will be 1-2months,..(at uni got exams).. if its syntheitc stuff, should i ring my dad and get him to change it ? or will it be alright and change it later... ham2
Get on the phone ( there's a reason the fluid drained off in the first place)and tell Pa he's got 2 oil jobs now-drain the clutch master/slave and the gearbox.
magicmat
SERIOUS !! darg-nabit !! well its being stood it should be drained anyway, i didnt really think about where the old oil went just thought after a year i went...lol...that sounds stupid, but the fluid i took out had some serious crap in it, i mean actual DEBRIS !! HO hum, i suppose
magicmat
Sh*t does this mean that all my rubber seals are dead ?? if it gets drained tonight it will have been in there... 48 hours....great... Can you use DOT in the brakes then ?? Edited April 25, 2006 by Magicmat
magicmat
Called <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central>, Yeah, new seals and wash out with mineral, well...it needs refurbing anyway... The outerseal was getting tatty and had broken, and the fluid must have gone somewhere before ??? so this will sort this problem out. I had a maintainance day planned for after my exams anyway !! hehe. gonna flush it out with mineral, then leave it stood with mineral in, then in 2months, ill change the seals, GB oil, before i ride it. All good ? (will stop filling the threads with my posts now. Sorry) Mat
