Plastic Repair Kits, Do They Really Work?

I have some plastic fenders that are scratched up pretty good. I've seen these plastic repair/restore kits advertised in bike/dirt bike magazines that show super results. Has anyone tried these and how well do they work?

I think you would be better off sanding them down using wet and dry, using finer paper as you go on until the scratches have gone then clean with alchohol and re laquer them....good as new :D

That is actually what the kits do, is give you all the nice different grades of sanpaper down to "paper bag" and some nice finishing polish.

The technique works, but for me, I would rather spend my effort trying to find other fenders. Patience is not one of my virtues by any means.

Will the kits work, yes, I think the one I had was called Plastic Renu and came with several progressively finer sandpapers. Worth the money? Maybe, but I probably had everything at the house.

The basic technique is to just go through progressively finer sandpapers until at some point you are buffing it with a very slightly abrasive grit.

To get a nice result will take a good bit of time and patience but can certainly be achieved.

Good luck.
