tim_in_colorado
I recently picked up a 2001 Gas Gas 321. Here's my two questions. 1) What's the normal mileage you can expect from gas tank, and does Gas Gas make a odometer for this bike? Mine didn't include one. 2) Does anybody have a cool trick for the 4 bolts that hold the seat cowl in place. I've replaced the hardware once already but can't seem to keep them from stripping loose. Thanks
lowbrow
Hi, I can't help you with the range of a tank of gas, but we used Dzus fasteners to hold the seat unit on. These quarter turn toggle fasteners made life a lot easier. Gas Gas UK were doing sets of these things at the time and may still have some, or perhaps you could get them locally? ev..
our TX270 gets about an hour and a half engine time out of a gallon sorry, we ride with hour meters not speedos but you could simply mount a bicycle speedo to your front wheel the first series Pampera and the 97- EC models came with a Sigma stock our seats hold with one center bolt and zip ties in the back zip ties, because if you rip the fender upward the zip ties breake before you harm the fender, then you can grab another zip tie from your bar pad and re-fasten your fender
farmerj
Tim, You don't want the stock speedo. They were quite unreliable. Try here: http://www.trailtech.net Happy riding! Jeff
tim_in_colorado
Thanks for the feedback. I was able to find the Dzus fastners online at http://www.racebolts.com/index.aspx. They worked great!
magicmat
which ones did you get ? i always had the impression that dzus fasteners,...well on cars anyhow, were flush with the body work and you couldnt really see them, but you can certainly see these, am i miss guided or are there others out there ? some of those just seemed like coloured bolts..."in dzus colours" it said Matt
cdn280
Something I haven't done yet, but plan to, is to try brazing/welding the 4 spring clips in place with just a little bead to keep them from moving around or dropping off when you are putting the seat back on. tim_in_colorado
I ordered the button head 1/4 turn 5mm bolts with the 1/4 turn clip on receptacles.
