doogle
Just booked the ferries for the Manx 2 day. Steam Packet have excelled themselves yet again.
scorpa3
That's the disadvantage of traveling to the IOM when the MGP road races are on. I raced for many years in the MGP and at the TT and cost for getting the team over the Island was always astronomical. And their response is: "If you don't like it, don't come!" Plain and simple... it's a rip off.
exiled yorkshireman
Could'nt agree more. The steam racket is an absolute rip off and gets worse every year. They have a booking system that makes punjabi railways look cutting edge and the service is diabolical. Last year cost 3 of us damn near
momo
Its bad enough when you only have to cum to the island once a year for the 2 day. Just think what its like to live here and have to travel 10 or 15 times a year over to you like Nige Crellin or Sask Baxter Unless you have delt with The Steam Packet people wont understand what you are talking about we have to book as frieght then fill your for in to say why you are using a van to travel away and stuf like that. But the one thing that really does get me is after finishing a trial on sunday you drive to the boat and have to sit in a queue till 2 0 clock in morn then they start to load and you drive 10 yards and they stop you to search the van to see what is in the back and make sure you dont have any petrol in tins . y carnt they do this while your sat in the queue instead of sitting on there ass drinking t in the cafe I could go on for hour but that will do
totalshell
i' ve ridden my bike on to the costa packet before as it was cheaper that way! sadly until a major operator sets up ( very very unlikely) or thier is a total boycott one year ( even less likely) we're stuck they run ferries year round and thier rarely full except at TT, MGP, 2 day, classic trial and the car rallies so until the drought sets in and the irish sea dries up the've got us.. bikespace
they run ferries year round and thier rarely full except at TT, MGP, 2 day, classic trial and the car rallies <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You've probably hit the nail on the head. I've worked over there for longer than I would want to I used to like to take my bike over so fairly often opted to take the ferry rather than fly. When you've sat on a ferry and hardly seen another person, you realise that at some point in the year they've got to make a fairly hefty profit to see them through. I find it hard to remember that when I've got me wallet out, but business is business I suppose.
