mich lin
Your right Citytrials, I was thinking of sponsoring Patrick but your astute point about Clive "No Jive" winning all the time makes me think he's deserves a sponsorship more than Patrick Smage! Hey when was the last time Patrick won a national? He's not nearly as good as No Jive! Edited June 7, 2006 by Mich Lin
city trials
Patrick Smages' last national title was 2004 when he won the Expert Sportman class. In 2005 he finished 3rd in the expert class and this year he's holding on to the number 7 slot, which would give him the number 7 plate next year. You know that plate number. Accordng to the Mich Lin trials rules, you should have been sporting this year, remember? As for losing the lucrative "Mich-Lin" sponsorship to Clive 'No Jive", all I have to say about that is... well looks like Patrick will just have to off-set this loss by entertaining the crowd at another Demo this weekend. I would like to point out to our readers, a Trials Central exclusive... ..... Patrick is currently doing his Demo's on a Sherco 125. Any chance Patrick may be running this Sherco 125 machine in competition? Stay tuned, if he does, you'll hear it here first. Lee Sampson rode a completely stock Sherco 125 at the WTC/TTC and didnt do too bad as far as I can remember. Will Noel be doing any tuning work on it? northernnorm
If you could find out how much material is removed from which ports for some of the top riders I know someone who does great porting work otherwise we will probably just keep it stock and possibly check the condition of rings and piston soon. Pat has done some of the same big wall splatters that were not terribly hard on the 2.9 . He seemed to think (no way) but then went for it and got it up kind of a good way to keep the riding routine more interesting .
atomant
Dont know much about the porting etc on the sherco 125 at the moment but I am selling the 290 and getting a 125 so I can use it as a development machine to see how far I can go on the tuning front. I have a few ideas taking from other technologies I work with which I want to try. I am not suprised that Pat is a bit reluctant to have a go at the big stuff on it. He has been sorta spoilt for power and now he has to learn how to get the most out of a smaller engine and push it to the limits. The thing is, if he doesnt get up something dont immediately think its the bike as some of the stuff Ross is getting up now compared to over a year ago is due to better technique and not having more power. ( although his latest engine is pretty powerful thanks to his dad Mick. )
copemech
Atom, Most run close to stock I noticed in TN. And the bikes seem to come tuned for better torque than the Gassers. Some VHST carbs, slightly higher compression heads, slightly lightned flywheels for quicker response. Who was it with the added fuel pump? On a 1.25 if you get crazy on one end of the power band you loose it on the other as a rule. I think someone sells those pills you drop into the gas tank so they get better fuel economy! Just how many of the "stones" did you say your 1.25 would need to carry?
