re500
Sorry boys me again Fitted most of my hot start kit but was wondering where to put the new coil? will not fit in origional spot and ht lead to short before i start drilling holes what seems to be the best solution Thanks in advance dixie ps it seems to work fingers crossed <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dixie Mounted mine just above the cam chain tensioner. NO NEED to drill the frame! I used the head steady allen bolt and the cam chain top allen screw. Upside to this position is that it stays cool! becker
Hi Dixie, I fitted mine in the same space as the original, but did not use the same mount. I used the bolt and spacer provided in the kit and mounted it HT end out on the threded earth mounton the left hand side of the frame. The HT lead runs down the back of the fan and is just long enough (the spark plug cap now face's the other way. I spent a few hours trying to mount it on the original bracket (this will not work with out the use of magic). It all fits nice and neatly now, with no problem getting the tank to fit. Hope this helps
shercoholic
Ok Gentlemen what's your verdict... Did you fit the whole kit and caboooodle ..new camshaft, kickstart lever, coil and hot start carb mod? Easier starting when cold? Easier starting when hot? Easier starting when upside down? dixie
Sherc fitted every thing exept the cam ,that can wait till next time the head is off seems to make a real difference; The kick start seems to make the most noticable change as the bike is effortless to kick over. i have not trialed it yet but i have been out for a long play it starts even after being turned over (on purpouse of course) but i am still going to sell mine, the monty suits me better. dixie
Big john I would love to keep it but as the old song went "MY WIFE WONT LET ME" I have a similar problem to yourself, seven motorbikes and only one wife I have been promising her a kitchen for ten years she says she has had enough of doing the washing up in the bath So it has to go,
atomant
Guys, what is your honest opinion of the mods? does it start atraight away when dropped and how have they cured the carb overflow into the airbox problem?
atomant
Would anyone like to give a genuine report of the bike post mods please ?
atomant
Sorry I can't at the moment, as the bike is awaiting collection at a dealers after having the mods done. All I know is it is definately easier to start when its hot, they have been testing it. I'll let you know when I have time to collect it and run the bike.Big John Thanks Big John. I await your comments
dixie
Atom used mine on sunday What a bloody diference honestly if the kit had been a bit quicker coming we all would keep our shercos the only time it took more then two kicks where initial start (it needs the choke now) and once when it got up a bank and i did not the bike was iverted for about a minuit some fuel was in the clear pipe i fitted to the air box last year i drained it and tried to kick it as normal it was really hot and flooded i tried about six kicks then pulled in the hot start two more kicks and it was away RESULT
