barfy Posted July 5, 2006 Report Share Posted July 5, 2006 You can defiantly rebore the RTL oversize, but there isn't much meat on the cylinder to seriously overbore and maintain reliability. In the early '90s when my RTL to try and make my RTL more competitive I contacted Derik Edmundson about the 270 modifications. He advised against serious overboring if I wanted longevity from the bike. If you're looking for a rebore I can recommend that you talk to Paul at PJ Engineering (www.prox.co.uk) who defiantly knows what he's talking about. At the end of last year you couldn't get pistons for the RTL (or TLR) so I had my cylinder relined and bored to the old piston. Since then I've had my Pentax TLM rebored in the same way and I know two other people who have had similar work done by Paul. At the Dave Roland, last weekend, several people commented how sweet the RTL sounded, especially at 17 years old. Just a pity that my chain didn't hold out because it was a long push to the Cat and Fiddle, but that Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
