the addict
Mate of mine took it out on an 04 rev 3 to sharpen the pick up, thinking of having a try mainly to ease putting the carb back in. Any one tried it before and is there a noticable change in throttle pick up

the addict
Rob, going to try this weekend and will post the results, I know it works as my mate has done it before. Have you swapped the carb intake hose around yet, ie makes putting the carb back on easier as the hole is larger. I dont have any trouble getting the carb off, its getting it back on is tight. Usually completely remove the jubilee clips when taking off and putting back on.

the addict
Thanks carl, not to bothered about better pick up at all but I am sure it will aid taking the carb off and replacing it especially. No problems with doing it then from your friend? and assume the reed block will not interfere with the barrell intake.Should give about 3-4mm more room for the inlet to go on which is all it needs I think, the amount of times this mikuni is of and on my beta for cleaning and adjusting I need all the help I can get. Thanks Justin Edited July 17, 2006 by Betarev3
the addict
Only me and Ryan out today, every other trials rider in Hawkstone I think. Started at 8 and packed up at 2 as it was bloody hot again. Got back home and went through the bike and also removed the reed block spacer which I have been wanting to do for a while. First little shock I had was the sealant used to hold the block and spacers together, pretty sure it was applied with a cricket bat and lots of it. Most of it was inside the reed block and one piece was at least 10mm high. The block was not assembled very well and slightly skew, one side tighter than the other, could quite possibly be sucking air in from the gap it left. This could be one of the problems with the running of the bike but i havent had chance to give it a good run this evening. I have noticed pick up is a little better/quicker but not mental, just better. The main benifit is putting the carb back on is mega easy and does nt seem to be reaching for the block at all with the spacer gone. Have a little look down the reed block next time you ve got the carb off, there may be sealant all over the inlet which cant be helping gas flow into the crank.
