stefan
When removing the skid plate on my '01 I found that the shape is changed a wee bit ( seems that the pre-owner did quite a lot of work on rocks...) Questions: When mounting an OK skid plate, would you have a non-contact between lower engine housing and skid-plate? What is the measured distance for bolt hole to bolt hole (rear to front) on a new skid plate? The 10 ton press needs a bit of a workout Stefan
landrover
on a ok skidplate there is a piece of rubber which touches the bottom of the engine when we have had the bashplate off we put the two front bolts in first screw in only a couple of threads then you can juggle the bashplate about to put the two back bolts in then tighten them up
stefan
So the skid plate bends over the lower engine housing? Does that mean that there is no need to use my 10 ton press? Cheers, Stefan
jaylael
Only if the rear bolts won't reach their holes without the use of force. Normally there is a slight preload on the rubber with the skid plate bolts all tight.
