Over £8000 Raised In Memory Of Martin Lampkin

Image courtesy of RedeyeSince the sad passing of Martin Lampkin in early April, Martin’s immediate family have been overwhelmed by the generosity from people around the World who have kindly donated to the two chosen charities in memory of Martin. 

Just over £4500 has been raised to date for Manorlands Hospice in Keighley – where Martin was cared for during his last days. This comprises of donations collected on the day of his funeral and cheques sent thereafter, including a sizeable and much appreciated donation by Sheffield Arena where Martin and his long term business partner Neil Crosswaite have jointly organised World Indoor Trial events for more than twenty years.  

Equally pleasing to the family was the global response to the limited edition commemorative metal tags that were kindly manufactured by Hope Technology, a fitting project that was also kindly and financially supported by Steve Chicken at SCP Investments. With 100% of the monies raised through the sale of these keepsake items to well-wishers from as far afield as Japan, Australia and South America a total of over £3500 has been donated to date to The Christie Hospital - Manchester, which is one of the leading cancer centres in the World and where Martin was treated at times during his year plus battle against the disease. 

This tally includes a kind donation by the FIM in recognition of Martin’s contribution to the sport of Trial and his many achievements including him being the first ever FIM Trial World Champion back in 1975.

With over £8000 having already been donated to these two personal and worthy causes, Martin’s widow Isobel, and two sons Dougie and Harry would like to express their thanks for everyone’s incredible generosity and for the many kind messages that they have received during what remains a very sad and difficult period for the family.
