2012 FIM Trial World Championship Round 4, Day 1

montesa-hrc-logoToni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) maintains his leadership in the Trial World Championship and this Saturday achieved a new victory, his sixth consecutive win, on the first day of the Spanish Grand Prix. Nevertheless, the plurichampion couldn’t celebrate this new success as he would have wished, as at the end of the event he injured the femoral biceps muscle of his left leg, which will probably affect his performance tomorrow, on the second day of the World championship event.

Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) was also injured; in his case it was a painful crushing and tearing of the little finger on his left hand when he was trying to get through the sixth zone of the first lap. The Japanese rider managed to get over it and finished the event in fifth position.

Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami have materialised a new victory for Montesa as a manufacturer, where it remains leader in the general classification.

Francesc Moret (Montesa) finished second in the Junior category, just four points from the winner, recovering his second position in the general classification.

Toni Bou: “I’m satisfied by the victory and these extra points added to my lead in the championship, but I’m also worried about tomorrow. It looks like it’s going to be a tough day. Let’s see how I get through the night, how much I can recover, in short, see if I’m able to fight for the victory, something that right now I think is going to be quite difficult”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “I haven’t got much to say, just that it’s been a difficult day. I was in pain, but I wanted to finish, I had to do it and I did it. Let’s see what happens tomorrow. I know I’ll suffer again, but I’m going to make every possible effort to achieve the best result I can under the circumstances ”.
