Hook Woods Trials Centre, home to 2005 SSDT champion Sam Connor, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year by stepping up as the headline Saturday sponsor of the SSDT 2013.
The 30 acre Surrey venue, is owned and run by Jim Connor, who originally purchased the land in order that he had somewhere to ride his own trials bike. As his three sons progressed in the sport, so the venue gradually took shape, to become the South’s premier trials location. It’s estimated that they have imported thousands of tonnes of rocks worth over £250,000 in that time! Jim, who is now a grandfather, has also started to quite literally build a legacy in the form of Jimmy’s Hill and Rosy’s Rocks, both named after the next generation of Connors.
Jim said: “I thought it was important to mark our achievement of 30 years by supporting one of the most prestigious events in the trials calendar. We’re delighted to be part of the event and are very much looking forward to catching up with old friends!”
Hook Woods’ Club will enter two teams into the event. Connor brothers, James, Sam and Tim will ride together in one team while the second team will consist of Steve Moore riding his 34th SSDT, Tom Mathews in his first SSDT and Kevin O’Reordan who has previously minded for Sam at world level and is all too aware of the toughness the SSDT presents.
Jim finished: “There are some great rocks in Scotland – we might just have to take one back in the van to add to the collection at Hook Woods.”
