Vertigo Motors is delighted to confirm that brand ambassador and development rider Dougie Lampkin has recently agreed terms to extend his initial relationship with the Barcelona based company that will allow the two parties to enjoy a new phase of engagement. This new agreement will see Lampkin, who has been instrumental in the development of the Vertigo Combat from its early prototype stages through to the release of the latest production model, continue his association with the Spanish make as both look to the future.
Dougie's undoubted pedigree and experience, that includes twelve FIM Trial World titles and nine Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) wins during his long and illustrious career, has been a valued addition to the project to date and has resulted in an already proven trial bike that has set new standards within this specialised sector. Confirming both the performance and reliability of the fuel injected two stroke powered Combat model even its prototype version, Dougie himself recording an outstanding and historic victory at the World famous SSDT earlier this year.
In between refining the production version to create an incredible easy bike to ride for the average user, Dougie has also overseen the Vertigo factory team comprising of James Dabill and Francesc Moret during its maiden season of competing at the highest level. Both Dabill and Moret have achieved recognised results in the 2015 FIM Trial World Championship against the very best riders in the World. Reinforcing the incredible sporting success of the prototype Combat in its debut year, Dabill gave the team its first national title as he wrapped up the British Championship whilst Moret was a close runner in the Euro series.
Speaking about extending his relationship with Vertigo, Dougie said. "It goes without saying that I am delighted to be able to remain inside the Vertigo family going forward. From day one we all knew that this was a long-term project, so it is nice that I can now continue to play my part in the next phase and have the opportunity to further develop the Combat and the other new models that we will bring to market in the future."
"It is really amazing just how far we have come in what is really a relatively short period of time when it comes to creating a ground-breaking bike from a blank piece of paper. I think we have already shown just how serious Vertigo is in terms of developing the next generation of trial bikes and how focused we are about quality and reliability."
"Winning the Scottish at Vertigo's first attempt was a real dream come true and just shows the incredible passion and experience that we have inside the team and back at the factory. I really hope that along with the achievements of both James and Francesc, 2015 has been just the start of many incredible seasons for Vertigo and has formed the first chapter in what will become a long history for the brand."
Lampkin rounded off by saying. "Finally I would like to thank Manel (Jane) and everyone at Vertigo for the last two years and for giving me the opportunity to remain part of this very special project."
Dougie again will be present as Vertigo Motors will use the occasion of this year's EICMA motorcycle exhibition in Milan, Italy to display the 2016 Combat production model that was recently launched to selected distributors and media, but is yet to be viewed by the wider audience.
