The 2015 British Ladies and Girls Trials Championship got under way on Sunday 15th March, held by North Berks MCC at the popular, Seymours Arena in dry but bitterly cold conditions.
This year’s Ladies Championship class has some old and new faces joining and has doubled in size with now eight riders taking on the top route. The sections were more technical than big resulting in a good trial for all competitors however it did make things tense for the current top two in the World, Emma Bristow and Becky Cook.
This was Becky’s first major competition with her new bike after moving to Team SXS at the start of the year. She started well riding calm and smooth under the watchful eye of new minder and team manager, Steve Saunders, cleaning all hazards until section seven and eight where she lost two slack dabs on the tricky hazards. Becky then went on to lose one more mark on section ten, which turned out to be the hardest hazard of the day.
Becky cast away four more single marks on the second lap which was no disaster but she knew she was capable of much more.
Becky finally warmed up for her last lap and came out with the best last lap score with just 1 mark lost but it wasn’t enough. Final scores on the day were Emma Bristow on 4, Becky Cook on 8 and Donna Fox on 21.
Becky Cook “I'm disappointed with the overall result but am leaving this event feeling confident, I am riding well but need to sort out these slack dabs! I am starting to gel really well now with my new bike and team and am sure things are only going to get better! Thanks to Steve Saunders for minding and North Berks MCC for putting on a great event"
