The fourth trial of the Peterborough Trials Club season took place today where 45 riders tackled 5 laps of 8 sections at Ketton Quarry. We had a little rain over night that helped settle the dust and conditions were looking perfect, until a heavy shower after most riders had completed their first lap turned the dust into claggy sticky mud but thankfully most of the sections were not affected by it and everyone seemed to enjoy their day.
The winner of the trial was Sam Gent who dropped just 4 marks with 3 of them on section 8 that proved the hardest section for the hard route. Runner up was Tom Ablewhite who dropped 9 with Simon Dignan in third on 25 marks dropped. The best intermediate rider on the hard route was Kieren Radley on 32 marks dropped.
On the 50/50 route Paul Haddingham came out top dropping just 14 marks with Aaron Wakefield finishing runner up on 51 marks.
On the middle route Stewart Dickinson guided his montesa through the sticky conditions to win the over 40 class and best middle route ride dropping 42 marks, narrowly beating Paul Davies who finished on 44 marks. The best clubman rider was Richard Carpenter who dropped 55 marks with Alan Rushbrook winning the Novice class and Nick Burton won the Twinshock class on his Fantic.
On the White route Michael Smalley just pipped Jamie Smith by 1 mark thanks to some good rides on the climb of section 7 with Alan Jones coming in third on the white route.
Big thanks to everyone who turned out today especially the observers who had to stand out in some pretty miserable conditions its very much appreciated and we couldn’t run the trial without you. We hope to see you all on the 9th August for our next trial at Stibbington.
