The new formatted Scottish Classic Championship got underway on Sunday at Glenlomond. Round 1 was run by the Dunfermline & District Motorcycle Club who staged an excellent event for the opening round of the series.
44 riders on a mixture of Pre 65, Twinshocks and Classic Monoshocks machines were graced by some beautiful spring sunshine to take in the 3 laps of 12 sections set out around Glenlomond. With the dry conditions scores were relatively low; however concentration throughout the day was vital in deciding the winners.
Twinshock ‘A’ Route, Jim Tennant (1 mark lost) was a clear winner from Rodger Summers (15 marks lost) in second place.
Pre 65 ‘A’ Route, Calum Murphy (3 marks lost) kept his lovely little BSA Bantam ahead of the experienced Murray Whittaker (5 marks lost) to take top spot.
Twinshock ‘B’ Route, had another close battle with Steven Corry (6 marks lost) just losing out to William Patterson (5 marks lost).
Pre 65 ‘B’ Route, went to a furthest clean tie break decision with Steven Mycock going furthest clean over Vince Mackintosh both on 1 mark lost.
Thanks go to Dunfermline & District Motorcycle Club, observers and the land owner for making the event possible.
Look forward to Round 2 at Abington on Sunday 19 June 2016
