James Dabill On Top At Scarborough

james dabill british trials championship round 4 scarboroughThe Scarborough club held a superb double trials weekend with a ACU RT Keedwell British Trials Championship round on Saturday and then a Supertrial Sunday with arena event rules.

Saturday saw James Dabill extend his winning run in the British Solo Championship when he took a convincing win over three laps of twelve sections. Dabill’s main challengers in the R T Keedwell sponsored series event turned out to be Jack Price and Dan Peace. Both of these young riders posted their best results to date at this level. James had however opened up his trial by going clean on his first lap and no one had an answer to that however hard they tried. The mixture of big rocks and some slippery stuff was well laid on by the organisers proved a good test and there was something for everyone.

In the Expert group Dan Thorpe lost his three out of three win record to Tom Minta. Tom has been knocking on the door for a season now and the change of machine to Beta seemed to suit him well as he took a 13 mark lead over his experience rival. Dan still leads the Championship although his lead is now eight points. Richard Sadler made a welcome return to the series and he had a steady day to finish third in the class.

The Youth A group was dominated by Jack Peace who was just superb. He finished well ahead of Duncan MacColl and Keiran Child who took second and third.
