The fifth trial of the Peterborough trials club season took place today where 41 riders tackled 5 laps of 10 sections at Ketton Quarry. We got soaked through setting out the sections Saturday morning but had to keep in mind the fast drying terrain of Ketton quarry and the good weather forecast for Sunday which we hope we got right. Despite a shower of rain during the event making some sections trickier everything seemed to ride well.
The winner of the trial was Sam Gent who dropped just 1 mark while show boating on section 6, he was followed by fellow expert class rider Rob Margetts on 5 marks, with third place overall going to the winner of the intermediate class Kieran McDaid who dropped 7 marks.
On the 50/50 route Mick Thurman came out top dropping just4 marks on his Pinky Yam with Julian Collins next up dropping 11 marks and Martin Bone third on 28 marks dropped.
On the middle route Martin Arden had a good ride to drop just 3 marks and take the over 40 class win, from fellow over 40 class riders Steve Neale and Jim York who dropped 20 and 25 marks respectively. Other class winners on the middle route were Sam Mann who was best Novice narrowly beating Dan Duffin by way of most cleans with both riders dropping 34 marks, Callum Hedison was best B newcomer, Nick Burton was best clubman, Alfie Ray Turner was best C class and Best twinshock went to John Haynes.
On the White route Keith Smith Dropped just 7 marks to beat Jared Margetts who dropped 9 marks with Gary Hall third dropping 13 marks. The best Youth rider on the white route Sam Arden dropped 19 marks.
A dry start for 3 Oset riders on the conducted route enjoying all the sections and the later rain. Anthony Piper Martin dropped 3 marks with Christian Piper Martin and Ben Bone both dropping 46 marks.
Big thanks to everyone who turned out today especially the observers who had to stand out in the rain at one point its very much appreciated and we couldn’t run the trial without you. We hope to see you all on the 7th August for our next trial at Stibbington.
