This coming weekend sees rounds six and seven of the 2016 ACU RT Keedwell British Trial Championships take place. Saturday sees the Hookwood Trial Club hosting the appropriately named Hookwood Trial at the clubs centre near West Horsley , Postcode KT24 6EA. Sam Connor is laying out the course and he knows as well as anyone what will be an appropriate challenge across the three rider classes.
The club have made the sections different to last year and have a few interesting layouts for competitors and spectators. Please note there will be a nominal entry charge for the event.
Sunday sees the second of the weekend’s events down at Butser Limeworks near to Petersfield. Postcode GU31 5SW. The Witley Club came back into the Championship series in 2015 and provides a very different rider challenge with it mixture of big climbs and loose shale type going. Both trials with start at 9.30 and consist of three laps of 12 sections.
Since the last round down at the West of England many of the British riders have been busy and very successful on the World Scene but it is now time to challenge again for domestic bragging rights.
In the main Championship class James Dabill has maintained a perfect record to date with five wins out of the five events. It is just behind him however that there are some changes afoot at the present time. Jack Sheppard back in the series and Beta mounted is currently holding onto second place with Jack Price on the Gas Gas third.
The very experienced Dan Thorpe leads the Expert Class but it is quite tight between him and his young rival Tom Minta. Minta is now mounted on a Gas Gas, his third make of machine this season and he looked good in Devon where local ace Joe Baker took the win. Third place is currently being closely contested between Tom Affleck and Joel Edwards.
The Youth A has seen Jack Peace another rider to have achieved a 100% record so far this year and he really has dominated the class. Behind Jack it is Keiron Child who holds second with Josh Hanlon not far behind him in third place.
With six rounds to go including this weekend there are still plenty of points still on offer.
