This year’s R T Keedwell sponsored British Trials Championships takes in a new round for 2016. This is the event organised by the Tynemouth & District DMCC takes place this Sunday at Shaftoe Crags, near Belsay, Northumberland. The postcode is NE61 4EA. Start time as with all British Trial Championship events is 9.30 and the trial will feature three laps of twelve sections for all three rider classes.
The main Championship group has been dominated by one rider James Dabill. Dabill has won seven of the eight rounds to date with his only defeat at the last event when Jack Sheppard took victory. This season has seen a challenge from the younger riders coming through with Jack Price, Iwan Roberts, Dan Peace and Toby Martyn all showing strongly. Dabill is in such a strong position however that it would be most likely that he will take another number 1 plate into 2017.
The Expert class is still very much up for grabs where Tom Minta leads current champion Dan Thorpe by seven points. Dan started the season with three straight wins but Minta, now well settled on the Gas Gas has had the best of the second half of the season at the moment. The series really seems to be a battle between the two with Tom Affleck and Joel Edwards fighting for third place.
The Youth A class has seen Jack Peace having a total domination of the events winning them all. Jack has been a class act all season and he leads Keiron Child by 32 points with Josh Hanlon back in a fairly secure third position.
After is weekends Tynemouth Trial the last two rounds will take place up in Scotland with a double header weekend on the first weekend of October.
